International Festival Institute
The Belle of Round Top B & B is the perfect compliment to your visit
"International Festival Institute at Round Top is one of America's classical music treasures. Located on 200 spectacular acres of Hill Country right in Round Top, in a complex of elegant structures known as Festival Hill, the intstitute is the brainchild of internationally known classical pianist James Dick. This talented visionary has made Festival Hill's rise to international prominance an important part of his life's work. Nowhere else in America will you find a state-of-the-art, 1000-seat performing arts theater in a village of fewer than 100 residents.
The institute draws nearly 100 gifted young musicians from all over the world to Round Top for a summer-long education and performance program that teams them with professional classical musicians." Ranked #33 in 'The 100 Best Small Art Towns in America'
James Dick was recently awarded the Texas Medal of Arts by Governor Perry and the State of Texas. This is a wonderful and very prestigious award that "honors citizens that have achieved greatness through their creative talents as well as those whose philanthropic generosity has opened doors to artistic opportunity for Texans of all ages. The Texas Medal of Arts Awards accents and exposes the power of the arts to our children's education, to our State's economy, and to our proud and special Texas culture."
James was also just named by the Texas Exes as one of the 2009 University of Texas Distinguished Alumnus Award recepients. This award is the highest alumnus award of The University of Texas at Austin.
